That Yucky Hard Stuff
05/27/2005
Still in job search mode and as much as I’m stressed and frustrated by the process, it has been very educational.
I have realized the following:
1) I would probably rather jump in front of a speeding train than to enter into the corporate arena ever again.
2) I want my job to mean something. Not just something to do to make money, pay bills, buy stuff – but actually MEAN something.
3) I desire to do something for the rest of my life (not just work life) that utilizes the passions God has indwelled me with as well as uses my gifts and skills.
And finally, most of what I’m finding is SHIT!!!!!
DID YOU SEE SALESPERSON ON MY RESUME, COVER LETTER, OR PROFILE SHEET?????
No!!! I do not want to sell your insurance plan, book, jewelry, business solution, vitamins, or anything else.
NO!!! I do not have a desire to sign on with you and then find 100 of my close friends to do the same.
AND ------ what happened to people contact? I have found "jobs" that look interesting but cannot contact the poster – am forced to go through Careerbuilders, Monster.com, Hotjobs, and all the rest. I have so many filters in so many on-line job finding sites that my head is spinning. I have filters on top of filters; I have frustration on top of frustration.
The job process is not about people – just as jobs are no longer about people. The cycle is now about my computer talking to someone else’s faceless, emotionless computer.
Sadly, I think the job search is indicative of the world at large.
Just thinking out loud,
zss

I've been thinking a lot about your job-search-struggle, and I've prayed about it. I realize you're running out of resources and how scary that must be... if I had it all, I'd give you half. Good luck, dearest.

Just writing to say that I'm thinking about you/sending good thoughts your way. I know how hard, fiscally and emotionally and mentally, it is to be unemployed for an extended period of time.
Hoping you find something suitable (and soon!)
much love,
-d.
