HOPEFUL

FINISHED 1/31/2005

INTO MY RABID LONGINGS
A MIND RACES IN THE DARK
THROUGH LONG TUNNELS OF VISION
AND SHORT-SIGHTED THOUGHT

WHEN OUT OF THE VAST RECESSES
A TWINKLE GRIPS MY EYE
AND SILVER PEARLS OF MERCY
CONSUME MY HOPEFUL CRY

LOST SAD GOOD-BYES
AND APPLE PIES
AND JOURNEY'S CLOSING ENDS
I WAVE GOOD-BYE
AND HEAVE A SIGH
AND START PRAYING ONCE AGAIN.

BUT DO I HOLD TO WHAT I RECALL
OR DO I LET IT BOUNCE
I'M ONCE AGAIN
A MAIDEN FAIR
DRAWN TO THE LION'S MOUTH.

MY HEART DOES BEAT
MY TONGUE'S LAST LAUGH
A CLOUD COVERED SON
WHILE ONCE AGAIN
MY CONSCIOUS STREAMS
AND I WONDER WHAT I'VE WON.

A FORGOTTEN FACE
A SAD FAREWELL
A TOUCH AS COLD AS ICE
MY BEATING LIDS
DO PLAY THE GAME
THAT LAYS DOWN BY MY SIDE.

SO WEEP NO MORE
SHED NOT A TEAR
FIND NOTHING TO DISMAY
FOR TIME STILL TURNS
AND LIFE STILL LEARNS
UNTIL OUR FINAL DAY.

I really like this Zayne! It's very rhythmic/rhyming quality would lend this to song lyrics very easily -- it makes me wonder if you have a melody in mind when you wrote it.

Thanks for sharing it here. :)
