Thinking Out Loud - 3/10/2005

A brief thought propelled by a conversation a Christian friend is having with one of her Christian neighbors. The issue at hand is not the problem rather the way one party is going about stating his disagreement that has becomes the problem. As in "I am a prophet of God" stance as if God’s truth lives only with him. This is the sort of crap that helps continue to drive a wedge between denominations.

My position (without stating the exact cause of the contention) is thus:
  1. Those who accept Jesus as the risen Christ are grafted into the Body of Christ.
  2. At the time of regeneration we are indwelled by the Holy Spirit.
  3. Water Baptism does not "save’ anyone. Salvation is by God’s grace through faith.
  4. We are a fallen people.
  5. There are considerable doctrines that we will not know the completeness of until Heaven.
  6. Sincere Believers, Seekers, and Students of the Word will not always agree on various points of the Bible.
  7. For those areas that we disagree on, we need to agree to disagree and love each other still.
  8. We must allow God to do the work in each person’s heart. The gray areas will be confirmed between each individual and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
  9. Each believer has an individual relationship and path that God has him or her on. Respect each other’s journey.
  10. There are points of the Word of God that we will struggle with until the Day we appear in Glory. Struggle with God.
  11. Each Believer is an expression of the Body of Christ. Respect the temples of His dwelling.
  12. We should seek peace and love among the Body of Christ no matter the different worship styles, allowances, certain doctrines, and other stuff we cannot KNOW FOR SURE this side of Heaven.
  13. Followers of Jesus the Christ WILL have different convictions. Equally committed believers WILL DISAGREE!
  14. KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING!!!!!!

Disagreements arise when we take our eyes off Jesus and focus upon the things around us that do not matter.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE MAIN THING.

That’s all.

Peace,
zss
